Children's Services

The Children Affected By Disabilities Team offers advice, support and assessment for children with disabilities and their families. The team is based in Galashiels but covers the whole of the Scottish Borders. Following assessment a number of supports may be available:

  • The Short breaks scheme offers breaks, normally overnight, to children in a carers home.
  • The Aberlour project offers respite or outreach services to children.
  • Practical support in the home
  • Day care provided by a local nursery or childminder
  • Assessment and support from an occupational therapist.
