   Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland aims to improve the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, advise and information, and support in the community.

   Volunteer Stroke Service Borders include

  • offers practical help and support to people affected by stroke, particularly those with speech and communication problems
  • aims to improve and maintain communication skills, reduce social isolation and rebuild self-confidence, and improve quality of life for patients and carers
  • provides group meetings, social events and outings

Chest, Heart and Stroke


   The Borders Disability Forum exists to improve the lives of people with disabilities and sensory impairments.

   The Forum works with individuals, groups, statutory and voluntary agencies to promote the interests of disabled people, and to tackle disability issues.

   Membership of the Forum is free and open to anyone with an interest in disabilities issues.

TEDDA run a Social Care Day Centre offering social activities, tea room facilities, and workshops for the benefit of the members who wish to keep themselves active.

   Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday 9 a.m.– 3 p.m.

The Eyemouth and District Disabled Association


   The Making the Most Group is for people with physical disabilities using the Victoria Park Centre. The group organises occasional speakers and outings, arts and crafts, and relaxation.

   Group meets on Fridays.

   Self help group that is open to anyone who is interested, whether disabled or not.

   Group meets on Mondays at 10.30

  


Living with Disability


   The Ability Centre believe in the principle of ability over disability and that everyone should have an equal opportunity to live a full and independent life in their community.

   The service is open to anyone aged 18 years or more with physical disabilities living in the Central Borders.

   A wide range of activities are offered in an informal and relaxed setting both in the Ability Centre and in the locality including:

  • Cooking
  • Gardening
  • Computing
  • Swimming
  • Arts and crafts
  • Woodwork
  • Indoor games
  • Accredited courses through Borders College
  • Workwise employment scheme
There is no charge for attending the Ability Centre. Transport can be provided to bring you to and from the Centre dependent on needs.

   Opening Hours: Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
